Rodgers Is Right. Celtic Is The Only Club The Media Won’t Allow To Win Ugly.

Celtic won yesterday. Of course we did. I was there, I saw it. But I feel the need to open with that statement nonetheless. We won a game days after circumstances beyond our control forced us to sell one of the key players from last year’s treble winning side. We won without our best centre back, and boy did that show. We won without our captain.

You tell me what other club in this country could have dug deep and found something the way we did yesterday. None of them could. And yet we’ve won the game by two clear goals and deserved to win by many more. We’re getting stick all across social media and in the press for not having played particularly well. But how much does that matter at this stage?

The days of trying to win every game by a hatful of goals is over. We’re in the trenches now, we’re in the wars, and the only thing that counts is to win. To win every game. To keep on winning until there are no more games left to play, no more points left on the board.

Back when The Mooch was at Ibrox, they weren’t even in a title race and they were getting praise from all corners of the media for an ability to “win ugly.”

It is, the media told us, a critical element of success and something all title winners have to be able to do. I agree. I’ve always said so, and at this point in a campaign all the more so. The Ibrox side is winning ugly. It’s winning with help from the officials as much as anything right now.

Yet they get credit when they do it. We are held to a different standard. A better one? I don’t think so. We get stick for stuff no other club does, we are put under pressure where no other club would be and in ways no other club would have to tolerate or accept.

We got to Hampden yesterday. They are still talking about us as if we’re in crisis. We lost last weekend. So did the Ibrox club. We still don’t get credit for beating them.

I am thoroughly pissed off with this season, and not just about the bad bits. We’ve not been allowed to enjoy the good bits either because there’s always been a swirl of nonsense in the background, and the manager is as acutely aware of this as anybody is.

“There’s probably not another team in the country that’s held up to winning and performing. Other teams will grind it out and get a result, we know we have to win and play well,” he said after the game yesterday. “We didn’t play well today, little patches were OK, but we won and we’re into the semi-final. That makes me very happy.”

At any other club just being in the semi-final would be considered good enough.

Had we scored six yesterday these people would have found something to criticise us for. Rodgers is a man who has just about had it with them. His every presser now involves him having a dig at the treatment he gets or we get. They treat him like contempt and he’s started reflecting it back at them.

And they deserve it a hell of a lot more than he does.

Like the vast majority of our fans. A Couple aside I have no interest in the media. Why on earth do you feel like we care about them.
I have read and posted on your site James for around 15 years but maybe being in my 60s now I am getting more frustrated and quite frankly depressed with multiple media stories. Over and out for me. Beam me up Scotty.

Agree, we just can’t “win”,can we with the media and it’s agenda.

Sevco get away with an almost identical tackle (Yang) by Diomande, no card , no VAR check.

Hope BR,s saved that one for the hearing.

Red card couldn’t come out fast enough even though it took him seconds later to see the tackle , don’t think they bothered with VAR check either.

Also noticed Silva didn’t receive yellow after his goal and running to sevco fans.

Business as usual with MIB when Sevco plays, every little helps.

Assume now McLean and Beaton will be fast tracked for the Derby game now, after a fine performance of how to decide the outcome of a game before a ball was kicked.

We know the double standards and sheer hypocrisy the media are always guilty as fuck of here. Tho it’s what we’re witnessin on the park with our own eyes. We don’t need that mob of sewer rats tae bring our problems tae our notice, it’s there in plain sight and the blame lies at the door of these ambitionless, profiteerin, parasites sittin on that board. We’re strugglin badly and we’ll be extremely fortunate tae take anythin from this season. As another person commented, we’ve had it in our power tae leave that lot behind, all this board had tae do was strengthen in 4-5 key positions, which most people believe, wouldve made all the difference and they utterly failed.

Well, for various reasons, where the team is today is about

a million miles away from what we were all expecting, back in August?

For a change I had a seat right behind the CFC dugout,

and spent a lot of the time not watching the poor game,

but watching BR and his body language.

He was rolling his eyes a good few times, and seemed

as pissed off as the groaning crowd at some of our play.

Through will power more than skill, we dodged a bullet yesterday.

And that 7-1 win against Dundee seems a long, long time ago, already…

Brilliant stuff from Brendan with the SMSM(So called sporswriters). Just take the piss out of them (in plain sight is the method) in front of all and sundry! Martin, gordon and Ange were always great with the media. Hope Brendan can get even better than those I mentioned. Everyone loves to see that approach with these media eejits. HH Brendan.

I certainly don’t need to rely on that bunch of disproportionate hun charlatans to know about football or knowledge of it. I’ve seen more and better than they ever will.
There is however something very ugly about the game in Scotland. HH

  • Bunter says:

Got to agree. Celtic are definitely held to a different standard by the MSM. We’re in the semi final. We’re 2 points away from Sevco with two derbies to play yet. Players are starting to come back from injury including Calmac. The double is there for us. Let’s take it and sicken these eejits.

There is nothing to fear from this Rangers team the media have paid them thousands to report on them and put them on a +ve light. We beat them Motherwell beat them Hearts should have beat them at Ibrox. Penalty to Rangers will become more frequent and Glodson handballs will be ignored. IT IS UP TO US TO TURN UP AND PLAY TO LEVEL WE CAN

  • Pauline says:

Celtic almost have to go to hell and back most of the time recently just to get their 3 points from these refs. Keep going Celtic that’s why we will always be the best!!

Typical press blackout regarding majority of sevco fans singing die ya fenian b when Boyle was hurt
