Celtic Goes Top And The Bile Pours In. But This Time Things Are A Little Different …

This has been a remarkably good couple of days, and I’ve enjoyed them thoroughly. But the level of abusive stuff I’ve had to sift through hasn’t been much fun at all. In truth, it’s not really been just the last couple of days but a trend over the last week, after we left Ibrox with the point we needed to swing this title race back in our favour.

That was the result that triggered the perma-rage. All the weekend has done is open the floodgates. Some of the Peepul do not respond well to being thwarted.

They do not respond well to playing catch-up.

For a couple of months, they had managed to convince themselves that they were heading for a season of glory – and maybe they still are; it’s in our hands, but that doesn’t mean that we’ll be able to carry it over the line. We take nothing for granted here. Now, though, that there is doubt in their minds, now that we’re in the driving seat, you can see how completely they believed it but also how invested in it they all managed to get.

We Are The Peepul is a supremacist slogan; it stinks of exceptionalism, and it is clear that a lot of those who express that sentiment believe that they are exceptional. But they aren’t. It does not entitle them to anything, least of all to treat the rest of us as somehow Less.

And nor are we, as they seem to believe, barely tolerated guests in “their” country. Nor is their anti-Catholic and anti-Irish bile, which I have to sift through every day, intimidating, as they appear to believe. In fact, with the Hate Crimes bill, a lot of what I get sent is now criminal.

And let me say this very clearly; I take that stuff seriously. If people want to email this site racist and sectarian abuse, whether through the comments or elsewhere, they better understand that they are taking their chances, because in case it hasn’t sunk in yet, they can no longer do that and be sure that they are immune from any consequences. If I were to publish half of this stuff, I know for a fact that it would result in a raft of Hate Crime complaints, whether I made one myself or not … that alone should demonstrate how moronic the act of sending it is.

There are a lot of people out there who labour under the misconception – which I have tried to correct often – that this is a “Celtic site.” It depends which way you look at it. It is a site written by a Celtic fan, from the perspective of a Celtic fan … but this is, and it has been since I’ve been here, a Scottish football site written from that perspective.

And so, I do occasionally peer over the garden wall, and that does drive some of those on the other side of that wall a wee bit off their nut. But this site has written about Hibs, Aberdeen, Hearts, Livingston and other clubs over the course of this campaign too; ask the fans of those clubs who have gotten up in arms over it. None of them, not a single one, has ever sent me anything remotely like the stuff some of the Peepul have sent me in the last ten days.

Celtic are now the favourites to win this title. If we keep our composure, we can wrap it up in a nice little bow on 11 May. If we win our next two then that’s the big one, and if we win that we can just about take it to the bank. If that happens those on the other side of the city are just going to have to suck it up, and accept that their sole title win in the last dozen years was a fluke and that the biggest club in this country is ours, with no end in sight.

I don’t expect them to like that, and if they want to “rage against the dying of the light” – something, frankly, they should have accepted when it came back in 2012 – they are fully entitled to grieve and to mourn. What they are not entitled to do is pour their bile in this direction or in any other.

They better get it through their skulls that everything is different now … and if they don’t want to leave these 15th century attitudes behind then this country is going to have to drag them into the modern world whether they like it or not.

Because the days when the rest of us had to tolerate this stuff, they’re over, and like that football team they once followed which is called Rangers, they aren’t coming back.

Keep up the absolutely fantastic work you do James I can only imagine some of the things you get sent and I think we all know the reason they’re doing it too…. Because you speak the truth and especially true regarding topics the succulent lamb lot wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. If it wasn’t for guys like yourselves we would have an idea they were up to no good but you guys show and tell us the full story. ??

  • Peter Cassidy says:

The bigots won’t change they are so bitter towards Celtic and there supporters plus most of them are thick and stupid so there pure hate will continue.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

I’ll be the first to ask James as I’m intrigued indeed…

Do they say anything nice about “Clachnacuddin and the Hoops” –

Or perhaps not – As the case might very well be !!!

    • James Forrest says:

Hahaha you are actually responded to quite a bit, as are some of the other regulars … believe me, you’re better not reading it.

I’m sure you can imagine the stuff. Horrible, repellant stuff.

WE DONT CARE WHAT THE ANIMALS SAY WHAT THE HELL DO WE CARE FOR WE ONLY NO THAT THERE GONNAE BE A SHOW AND THE GLASGOW CELTIC WILL BE THERE.HAIL HAIL

  • JimBhoy says:

Exceptional they are James in many ways. I prefer Intolerable.

As long as the penalty spots were playable the game was going ahead tomorrow. Tavs 11/10 on Paddypower tomorrow.

Good luck to Dundee tomorrow I hope they show a bit of confidence and attitude.

  • SFATHENADIROFCHIFTINESS says:

May be wrong, not for the first time, and with you being a more experienced ‘Wordsmith’
than ‘pauvre-moi’ but, should that not have been ‘was’ when referring to the deidco, you know the Liquidated entity
that once existed in the not so hallowed halls of the DebtDome.
Either way, as you rightly say, “ they are not coming back”. Ever.
The sooner the Wee Arra Peepul realise and accept it, all the better for them as well as Society in general.
There’s enough real enemies coming over the hills for us to deal with than having to tolerate the reality defying delusions of others within ‘our own country’.

  • John L says:

    I feel for you James.
    Poison is what Poison breeds.

  • Roonsa says:

There’s a video on Facebook of some guy standing outside Liebrox on match day wearing green clothes. Nothing Celtic or Ireland related, just smart but casual green clothing.

He asks the chimps what they think of his outfit. The response from every single one of them (well, bar one guy who was pretty chill about it all) is as you would expect from that lot.

Such is the level of their intolerance that you will be judged (aggressively) for weating a particular colour. Only when there is safety in numbers, of course. I wear my Celtic track top on a regular basis and not one of them has ever come up to me as yet. Surely there must be chimps who live close to me. I would really love it if they did.

Newton Mearns lads. I go up the ASDA at the Avenue for my weekly shop. Usually on a Saturday morning between 9 and 10. Do stop me and say hello if you happen to see me. Wearing the green.

    Lolz.

I am an undercover member of their Rangers Media site, have been since last season, and I enjoy throwing in the occasional bomb just to stir them up. It’s really not that difficult hiding in plain sight, as they constantly abuse their own players and club anyway and it gives me a bit of fun, especially when they agree with me and give me likes. 🙂

  • Kevin Dunne says:

The unanswered questions of svco fans and the club going unpunished yet AGAIN for attacks on opposing players by coin and bottle throwing ,not to mention the filthy spitting,WHY has SFA done NOTHING even from last season at the PIt v Celtic , even latest action at Ross county has raised no questions from the SFA ,if it was Celtic they WOULD have been demanding points deduction, I feel a definite stadium lock out at home for 3/4 games and no away fans wherever they play .SFA NEED to show they are not run by the mason,s band of men in black.action NOW

  • Donnie says:

Well said I agree with every word ov that .gd for you

  • Sophie Johnstone says:

Every word from them is full of bile. The vile abusive cretins will never realise that Its not acceptable in any way, shape or form.Nothing to do with the new law.IT NEVER WAS

  • Anon says:

I think I remember when I was about 10 years old that Celtic supporters used that statement first. Approx 1962. My older cousin and his mates and myself would shout it out in the ‘Jungle’.

(Please do not publish my name or email I have got to live with this if I am wrong)

  • Andy says:

Nothing will change James sadly. They are what they are. Their new and old club is built on hating on Celtic and anything connected to it. Look at the way they bring up the abuse case like they want us paying money towards it. Not because the victims are due it, which they more than are, but to weaken our finances. They couldn’t give a shit about those poor victims. Only the fact it could weaken us. Which it wont anyway as its an insurance battle not the clubs. Cant even get that right the morons.

  • Peterbrady says:

Do not be surprised tonight if they implode the sevco zombie scum invade pitch to attack Dundee staff and even sevco staff it is there default reaction every time permarage

  • brian cavanagh says:

Hi James – great stuff. Three points in response – it seems as Scotland becomes more secular -the bigotry of Ibrox and of many of their fans becomes even more obnoxious [if that it possible] and its analogous to some of their bretheren in the North – they just cant bear not being in charge. BTW Don’t think even Linfield v Cliftonville is as poisonous as Ibrox was two weeks ago

Secondly the board owe a debt of thanks to Ross County – it has given them a bit of breathing space -and if we do win the league -we still should Lawell and Nicholson’s removal

Thirdly a week of hate crimes and no police action-what is the point of an act that is not implemented. Will there be any anti -Irish/Catholic hate crimes prosecuted? Wont hold me breath.

  • The great jc says:

    Brilliant article. Absolutely.
…probably the ONLY football writer to deal with these reprobates and say it as it really is.
Definitely needs said and has been for at least one hundred years.
Their sense of entitlement and se[f agrandisement is beyond decency towards their fellow man, or is it simply, because they can’t behave like humans and don’t know how to.

As my father used to say “pity them son, they don’t know any better”and are still living in the 1690’s like ferrel Neanderthals.
go to mass and pray for them, by God they need it.

    Ps.
Well said to every comment on here, its the best I’ve seen yet.

    C’mon Dundee.
    HH.

  • Frankie says:

James this is just a thought, could you and some our other bloggers not get a meeting on the fans behalf with our so called board and ask questions about the sfa/spfl var, coin throwing, bottle also, and ask WHY we don’t cause eruptions about sevco running everything to do with the game in Scotland , after all it is the fans that pay our boards lucrative wages.

  • Gerry says:

Great article James, and again, we commend you for the details and insight, that you regularly publish.

It can never be easy when regularly writing quality blogs, then having to sift through the bilious, hateful and malevolent comments from the worst residents of Mordor.

As well as retaining this title, it is vitally important that they are continually highlighted and called out, when necessary !

Keep up the fantastic writing, and God help your inbox, when this title is secured…HH
