David “Two Bob Job” Tanner’s Anti-Celtic Squealing Is Hilarious In Its Bitterness.

I have always enjoyed David Tanner. I enjoy him in that way that the ancient Romans used to enjoy the spectacle of the Colosseum. I enjoy seeing him torn to pieces on social media. I enjoy doing it myself from time to time. It is amusing to me, to see this guy who was once a Sky Sports presenter effectively slopping on an internet channel.

Tanner is one of the worst people ever to work in broadcast journalism in Scotland; it is only here that he could have gotten a gig. He is not smart enough to do analysis. He barely understands the sport. He has no conception what the audience thinks; if he did he would have quit on his first day in the job and would have spent the rest of his life under the bed.

Worst about Tanner is that he is, and has always been, shamefully biased. Not even in that Village Idiot way; he at least has the excuse of having played for the club and he wears his heart on his sleeve. Nobody ever doubted what and who he was.

Tanner was supposed to at least pretend to be neutral, and to an extent he did. He pretended. Just not very well. Just not very enthusiastically. Outside of the ex-Ibrox players, there was nobody in the press corps who wore his pain and frustration and anger and even his outright loathing for Celtic out there on his face. If you missed a game he was working on and tuned in as he was doing his wrap-up you could tell just looking at him whether we’d got a result.

Since his termination at Sky he has been making a nuisance of himself over on PLZ. I don’t mind that. I don’t pay a bit of notice to anything they produce anyway, except when something like this draws my attention to it. He’s no longer haunting our televisions, and now all he does is makes a fool out of himself on social media. Last week he was commenting on the Scottish Cup Final and saying that nobody cared what time the kick-off was at and suggesting we go early … unfortunately for his credibility (yes, I laughed writing that) almost everyone did care and were pretty pleased that we were getting the three o’clock kick off it deserved.

But yesterday he was back to doing what he’s known for; having a pop at Celtic, disguised as a general point in favour of VAR. But he highlighted a Sun article which seemed to be claiming the Ibrox club were hard done by whereas Brendan deserved his ban for standing up for Yang. His tweet was a typical piece of David Tanner bitchery.

“It remains unfathomable to me – or anyone who bases their opinions on the 2024 laws of football – that there was any debate about the Yang red. I said when VAR was introduced that BOTH Celtic & (the Ibrox club) would not get away with so many crowd-influenced decisions. A good example.”

Oh where even to start with this?

For openers, Tanner claiming to be “basing his opinion on the laws of football” rather than just having a pop at Celtic is almost too funny. That man bases his opinions on one thing; that he just doesn’t like us very much. Nobody is fooled at all.

The Yang decision was a classic example of an official using subjective judgement. The actual rulebook is pretty clear; VAR should only get involved if there was a “clear and obvious error” from the officials. The ref booked him. There was no need to flash the red card. The boot was high but there was no aggression and no intent. A lot of people thought the decision was debatable. This joker simply can’t remove his blue tinted specs.

Secondly, as people have pointed out online, how the Hell could the decision on the pitch have been “crowd influenced” when we weren’t the home side? He tried to defend himself with the pathetic assertion that our away fans make more noise than the home crowd. Really? At Tynecastle, where we get a number of tickets in the hundreds?

That whole tweet is so brainless that it’s almost unbelievable. Almost. Because Tanner has previous for this. On 11 November last year he was screeching about the Maeda red card against Atletico Madrid, another decision which was given as a yellow before the off-field official changed the refs decision. He was in foot stamping fury that Celtic and some of the mainstream media were defending the player over it.

Tweeting after the news that Maeda would miss several weeks with an injury picked up in that very challenge for the ball, he was spitting venom at the player.

“Does this now obliterate any defence of the red card tackle? Not only did Daizen Maeda endanger an opponent, he put himself in enough peril to be a doubt for the biggest game of any season, the 2nd derby. The narrative was shifted to “scrap VAR”, blithely ignoring this key fact.”

This website utterly scorned that tweet in all its ridiculousness as being the over-emotional response of somebody who couldn’t hold back his bitterness one minute longer.

“What a spiteful, bitter pro-lbrox lickspittle that man is. Imagine using the word ‘fact’ to punctuate a statement so completely devoid of any. Has he got a single thing right in that tweet? He spells Maeda’s name right I suppose,” I said at the time.

I ended that article by saying he sounded like someone who had Lost The Plot.

I recognise now, of course, that I was too generous. He never had it. This guy has been a joke since before he was booted off TV. And nothing sums him up more than that The Village Idiot essentially got his job. Think how bad you have to be for that to happen.

No wonder he carries a lot of anger around with him.

I tried last night to get on radio Clyde about the Yang red card only to be informed my language as in the words bias and cheating can’t be used yet I’ve heard on these programmes others of different persuasion use whatever my belief was that if they had of cleared the decision and said it was wrong decision it would have to be a complete admonishment of Brendan Rodgers therefore admitting the ref was right and VAR wrong same as the diving at The derby ground but to no avail bias can’t be. If, when I was working on construction sites, I had lost my job and then got told a week later
that a wee girl who had just left school was doing my job better, I would head for the nearest
knackery. This wee man is only carrying out and carrying-on with the bigoted family hatred
of Catholics handed down from his forefathers. In a way, it`s good to see their jealousy, for
that is what it is. They must be raging when they go to Catholic countries with their beloved
team and see the vast difference in habits and lifestyles, not to mention the wonderful
architecture in places like Rome, Barcelona and even Notre Dame cathedral. The first
thing they then visit when they come back home is either the Louden Tavern or their wee drab
masonic huts and orange lodges, They`re just a sad wee bunch who are masters of their own middens. We can only pray for their conversion, rather than their conversation.

He is in fact the sorrow child of Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller.
Like spiderman getting spidered up, Boyd fell into a barrel of tits and so he got the same thing as Spiderman, ‘but with saggy tits like a rooftilers nail bag, the kind of tits where the neighbours close the curtains if you go topless in your own house, they smell of vinegar and you can keep bacon warm under them, even a shepherd’s pie.
But aye, Boyd bummed miller and oot fell Word Killer, born from super tit DNA making him a massive diddy ride.
This is the facts, go check it, you’ll see I’m right.
And then you will see that he was so ugly as a kid, Kris Boyd breastfed him through a straw or fed him beans oota Millers erse
      All facts ?

A less talented, less charismatic, less insightful and actually uglier version of the Tarbolton Wanderer. He doesn’t have his sorrows to seek, does he?!

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Not really heard of this guy to be honest but he just carries on his anti Celtic mantra just like the rest of them that are reported on here to keep himself in a Scummy Scottish Football Media job…

Strange that he said The Celtic Support were louder despite the sparse number at Swinecastle…

There again a drowning man will clutch at a straw and all that I suppose comes into it all !

I sat next to Tanner on a flight from Turin to London after we lost to Juventus in the CL last 16. It was just after Sevco Liquidation and joining the league at level 4. He could not fathom why the old Rangers should be punished. I made it clear as a reasonable football fan (not blinded by religious bile) why it was so important for the game in Scotland to be seen to be fair. He didn’t get it and at that point I realised he never would. For me the titles should have been stripped and to this day I never forgive the Celtic board for not insisting that happened or they would not compete in the following years League campaign. Without us Scottish football would have collapsed. We were niaive. They play new club for debts and old club for honours what a deception that is ….it was the worst outcome possible for us and we let them get away with it. Disgrace.

He’s been accused of being bitter ?!! Stop it my sides are aching from laughing ?
