The Insider Part 2 Celtic target bigger names

|

Well here it is even more sensational news has been leaked to me from my close friend in the know, in the media, and he has revealed more targets that may be snapped up by the Bhoys.

The first list was a bit of an anti-climax as it had a few lesser knowns and unknowns, which some commenters took pride in slating, but my view is well what do you expect. We do not have the cash flow of  Real Madrid, Chelsea or Man City and our scouting network has to throw the net wider to pull in quality on sadly a low budget, but who knows Mr Desmond may dip into his pocket if Lennon finds a corker who they all would like, who could to move the club forwards.

The second part of the inside knowledge will be revealed below, let me remind you NONE OF THE BELOW IS FROM ME, it is from another party so do not shoot the messenger bhoys.

This is the second part of the full list that was passed to me only last night from my pal in the press: –

American, Goalkeeper – Marcus Hahnemann – Without a possible solid experienced goalie in the line-up other than Zaluska and Forsters departure looking likely Hahnemann has been looked at considerably and may be offered a trial.

NORWEGIAN, Striker – John Carew – Now Jay Bothroyd is being touted to english prem teams, Carew is in the light, he offers again something a bit different and Celtic have been in touch.

English, Midfielder – Nigel Reo-Coker – A player who has lost his way, picked up form under Martin O’Neill at Villa and with a whisper in Lennons ear, Coker may be added as a squad player only, he would not be a direct replacement for any leaving players.

Danish, Striker – Nicklas Bendtner – Arsene Wenger has expressed a need for new life in his team and has targetted Beram Kayal and Emilio Izaguirre as Arsenal type of players, Wenger who is currently waiting for bids for Fabregas for extra cash, will offer a swap deal for Bendtner or the player “-see player below-” for either Kayal or Emilio.

Mexican, Striker – Carlos Vela – Will be involved in conjunction with any deals above if they go ahead.

Hungarian, Attacking Midfielder – Zoltan Gera – When Lennon ushers a clean out of the un-needed he will look to another midfielder option, with tons of premiership experience, European experience, flair and an eye for goal he has been looked at as a short term project ala the Ljungberg deal.

Nigerian, Winger – Victor Obinna – Would add pace and an eye for goal to the Celtic line-up but Obinna will look elsewhere first as he rates himself. Celtic could bid for him as Inter see him as surplus to requirements. Could cost between 4 and 6 million.

Brazilian, Left back – Dede – Looking for a chance to add to his silverware and having always expressed an interest to play abroad Dortmunds longest serving player has a few options including Celtic, at 33 it is questionable what he can offer but with bags of experience in lots of varied competitions the once capped internationalist may consider Celtic but has offers from Bundesliga teams such as Mainz.

Spanish, Midfielder – Marcos Senna – At 34 his best years are arguably behind him but he would add technical ability and bags of experience that Celtic lacked last season that could have got them over the line. Sennas agent has been touting him across the UK including Celtic, Swansea and QPR.

Brazilian, Winger / Striker – Bebe – A failed Alex Ferguson project? May be shipped out on a full transfer or loan. He has expressed an interest in a loan move to Scotland, abroad or even the championship. I cannot see Ferguson doing Celtic any favours unless Izaguirre is involved but he has been looked at by Celtic and is word is he is available.

Ghanian, Defender – John Pantsil – Strength, good positioning and bravery are all traits to his persona, would add even more experience to the Celtic defence with well travelled Dan Majstorovic. Experience is the key word Celtic need it to overshadow their rivals. Celtic know of Pantsils availability.

German, Left back – Christian Pander – German internationalist defender has expressed a considerable opinion to move to new shores, will only be signed if Izaguirre is transferred out.

Belgian, Goalkeeper – Brian Vandenbussche – Heerenveens goalkeeper currently considering his options, with the Netherlands Eredivisie one of the ‘ponds’ Celtics scout network has been watching, with some decent displays in the past season with scouts spotted at his matches he could see a move to Celtic as a big step up in his career.

Dutch, Striker – Danny Koevermans – On word of friend Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Danny has seriously considered the SPL or EPL to be his next move. He has heard stories of Celtic and even watched Celtic matches on TV, he would be a great addition to the squad but PSV may ask for Samaras with any deal.

Spanish, Goalkeeper – Manuel Almunia – Could resolve Celtics emerging goalkeeping void. If rumours of Shay Given are not true and he does not move the only high calibre goalkeeper left could be Almunia. He would relish in the SPL but he will consider other Premiership teams 1st, QPR and Aston Villa are considering moves.

So that is the list… so far, my man in the know will give me any more transfer information he has to me and then I will reveal it once again. The insider has told me will be back with a part 3 in the near future.

Comment as you wish Celts.

    John Carew is from Norway

    • Sean says:

I know, I just phoned my pal and ribbed him about that, he said it was a mistake whilst typing lol

  • sean says:

I think your mates been on the mushrooms!!! bedtner for a start is married to danish royalty and if he was chocolate he’d eat himself, the guys got so much confidence in his ability or lack of it,you choose. Can you see him running around east end park on a january midweek!!!

    • Sean says:

LOL thats what I thought, but he is in a very good job for what he does and his network of people are very talented.

  • cruix bhoy says:

dont want any of them, sign a couple of decent players we all know to win the league

  • Chris says:

In all honesty who would want to sign almunia? The only way I could see Celtic signing him, is if we wanted to throw away the league!

    • Sean says:

Hard times face hard measures mate. Hahnemann from my friends list above, is a could be if a Given deal goes tits up for me.

  • KevDP4L says:

Hahnemann might be a good shout if we can’t find anything better. Dependable enough and on a free.

Can’t see us getting players like Reo-Coker, Bendtner, Vela, Almunia, but would take them if we can get them.

Players like Carew, Senna, Koevermans are too old imo considering the young nature of the squad Lennon is trying to build.

Never heard of Vandenbussche & Pander, but that’s not necessarily been a bad thing as far as Lennon signings are concerned.

The one name that really sticks out on the list for me is Victor Obinna. I’ve followed Inter Milan for years and I always had high expectations for him. Obviously he hasn’t lived up to these expectations and he’s never going to to get in the current Inter team. But in the SPL I reckon he could do some major damage. I also reckon we could get him cheaper than £4-6m

There’s another former Inter youth player I think Celtic should take a look at. At the start of last season, due to Diego Milito’s injury, Jonathan Biabiany was a first team regular for Inter and showed plenty of pace, skill and at still only 23, a lot of potential. However he was allowed to leave to Sampdoria as part of Inter’s Pazzini deal in Jan. Sampdoria have since been relegated, so one would assume Biabiany will want to leave and I reckon he is a player who could make a massive impact at Celtic.

    • Sean says:

It all depends on how Lenny plays it. Do we need more experience? Possibly yes.

Old players do add this trait but again the SPL, no matter what people say about it, is hard to adapt to.

Hahnemann could do a job and he is not the worst keeper I have ever seen.

Would love to see Biabiany arrive at Celtic but im unsure if we could get him in.

I know we have ordered an Italian many times in the past, Di Canio, Annoni, Donati to name a few.

Send his name in an email to Celtic Park who knows
      😀

  • Anon says:

Poorly researched, with the safety net of having spoken to “a man in the know”. Probably made up shite. Of the 15 names listed here, I don’t want, or expect any of them to sign for Celtic. If by the start of the next transfer window NONE of these players have signed with Celtic, will you decide to spare us any of this nonsense in the future? Shite, poorly researched, fantasy.

    • Sean says:

No safety net involved, person who does not want to be named.

I am a qualified multimedia journo and have an extensive line of contacts from my training etc

If the piece above relayed to me by a “Friend in the know” is in the public interest I shall show that information.

Poorly researched – thats your opinion and I only show what I am given.

As for the players named that you “Dont want” you need a serious reality check, in these times we cannot go “guns akimbo” and spend 6 million on players like we have done in the past.

I would not be surprised if we saw lesser talented individuals than the ones named along the same lines of Daryl Murphy brought in, then who would be eating their words?

Not me or my compatriots on the blog thats for sure.

      • Anon says:

I dont want a “guns akimbo” marquee signing. We have made 2 signings already, I would be happy with one or two more and subsequently replacing any first team players who may leave.

I base my poorly researched comment on the fact, Alexei Eremenko is not Russian, but in fact, Finnish, and as mentioned above, John Carew is Norwegian.

The question however remains. If on the 1st of September, when the transfer window is closed. If none of these players that “your man in the know” has told you about, have signed for Celtic. Will you spare us all any of these excruciating blogs, spamming our timelines with Football Manageresque player shortlists?

        • Sean says:

No is my answer as it is in the PUBLIC INTEREST.

I will continue displaying information from my friend for the Bhoys and Ghirls who follow the blog as I believe it is a right we know who we are after.

You sound like a total football expert :S reveal yourself from behind your mask and smoke screens and we will talk on a level.

Quickly before the “He’s probably a rangers fan ignore him” comments appear?

Im always open to improvements mr expert.

  • ian says:

celtic need to grt rid of the dead wood loovens samaras odea hinkel rasmussen etc

    • Sean says:

Agree with you there. Think Rasmussen never really got a good look in though, maybe if he got a run of games we would see this ‘fox in the box’ predator some news outlets mentioned.

  • Marc says:

Sorry mate, would love to believe that even half this list is genuine but I think someone is yanking your chain. Would genuinely love to see some of the names you have wear the hoops but unless dermot desmond wants to sell a house and hand us the proceeds there’s no chance. Carlos Vela, Bendtner, Almunia, Marcos Senna, and especially Bebe, may not exactly be the players they were a year or two ago, but we’re still talkin maybe around 6m a piece, possibly 8m for Senna. We recently seem to have been priced out of a move for Shane Long because newcastle are moving upwards of 5m or 6m for him, so I fail to see how we’ll suddenly be able to afford any more than that for these players.

    • Sean says:

Who knows what the future will hold for us.

Personally, my pals list aside, I would prefer we got quality unknowns, but good ones, like Kayal and Izzy, because whoever scouted them must be wee geniuses.

Possibly that might not happen, but who knows hey?

  • allan says:

bednar is a defo no no arsenal will be looking for 6mill plus and the guy thinks hes a world classplayer no chance he will move to scotland.carew is linked way other premiership clubs so we cant match the wages.mos of these names r pure fantasy never gonna happen

    • Sean says:

Fantasy? Im not too sure about, we have a wage cap I believe and I cannot see Celtic giving anybody over 40 grand a week, so it possibly rules out Bendtner as hes a wee money grabber, I believe we have a good chance of signing a few from the list but names like Senna and Obinna will be in the lower percentiles of us signing them as they have made names of themselves.

Obinna was a revelation for the Hammers last season and that could add a few million more than my pal has stated, maybe 7 to 10 million as he is still contracted to Inter Milan and they are prude business individuals.

  • Frankie connolly says:

There’s not one player in this list that makes me excited… Pure pish…
Bentner is one of the worst footballers in England…
Best thing could happen to Celtic at the moment is keepin the side we have together, adding a goalkeeper… And possibly a defender…. If they let kayal and izaguire go so early in there Celtic career, I think I’ll give up my season tickets…

    • Sean says:

In reality not one player makes me excited from that list.

I kind of expected links of that quality though to be honest as we cant splash the cash too heavy anymore.

Reiterating what I have said I hope the scouts can pull off another humdinger and get in one hell of a keeper on the cheap.

Put the same fellas on the case who found Kayal and Izzy 😀

      • Sean says:

PS I would be absolutely gutted if we rid of Kayal and Izzy as it would be totally going against what Lenny has said, they are key foundations to Celtics future a squad can be built around players like them.

  • allan says:

we should have signed jelavic last summer after he scored against us and never.the days of us spending even 4 million on a player are gone we need bosmans and to discover more izzaguires and kayls before te premiership teams spy them.our top priority must be another striker to partner hooper and a goalkeeper and 1 more centre half as wev got wilson who will do a job.carew would be run riotin scotland but like i said might go to another premiership team near the bottom end wigan etc

    • Sean says:

I think we opted to look elsewhere rather than Jelavic, plus hes very suited to the blue half of glasgow.

I agree if we can get a few great ‘frees’ in we would be laughin.

Carew could do a job definitely, better than Samaras but would he stay fit, a few Celts have told me he carries a very dodgy knee.

  • allan says:

they said that about john hartson but i hear ya lol

    • Sean says:

I know, if he signed and turned out to be a Hartson and scored a good few for a few seasons I would be a very happy man.

  • Kevin says:

I think Craig Mackail Smith would be a good signing for celtic, could they be able to get him?

    • Sean says:

I think hes away to Wigan, he would have been decent from what I have seen, but I couldnt imagine he would be better than Hooper, he was a chance but he turned out to be gold.

Mackail Smith is a quality player though.

  • TrueCelt says:

I have to agree with a few of the posters on here, this list reeks of Pash. I wouldn’t have any of these journey men and would rather we scouted the market for untapped talent.

The journo contacts that Sean has are very poor and must have learnt their trade at either the Daily Record or the Irish Post.

Cant really say I’m looking forward to part 3, a list of sesame street characters most probably!

    • Sean says:

Fair point I have never said it was not pish, but there is a chance we will have to turn to some of these players believe it or not.

Who would you bring in realistically? Matching the fact we are not as financially adventurous as we once where?

The players stated are merely players that have been under the eye and are on our radar. I do believe that we still have our eyes on untapped talent, Scandinavia, South American and parts of eastern europe.

Alot of these names could be last resorts from my point of view and the sources I have links with are very decent.

I cant imagine we will sign all the players on the list, obviously, but its a statement that we have started to look at some of the easy free talent that is available, as from what I have checked with the list above, when I received it, is that a majority are either out of contract free agents or looking for pastures new.

I hope as we all do, hopefully we will find the next “Larsson”, “Lubo” or even “Agathe” for possibly pennies in this current climate as the scout network the bhoys have seem to be at the top of their game.

Who would you bring in then TrueCelt?

      • TrueCelt says:

Sean, Fair enough this is a list of available free agents in the current market but none of the above I feel would offer us anything other than what freddy did!

Given would be the only experienced player I would be willing to fork out wages for as we know his quality and more importantly his love for the club! The rest of our budget I would be out in south America or eastern Europe looking for young and hungry kids looking to prove themselves on a bigger stage.
It’s what Celtic does best and has proved fruitful over the many decades.

I look forward to Part 3 when we have Big Bird at CB and Elmo as a possible replacement for Kayal although negotiating with Jim Henson may prove difficult.

        Only Joking pal! Hail Hail

  • BhoyWolfe says:

I would suggest we keep the wage cap and forget about DD’s wee incentives. Keep the trawler roaming lenny. Ya never know what ya might find. Hail hail.

    • Sean says:

I agree we shouldnt go over board with spending go for free transfers and unknowns for small fees.

      Hail hail

  • BhoyWolfe says:

keep the trawler a roamin lenny. None of the above PLEASE!!!!

    • Sean says:

LOL hopefully, but I keep saying it I dont expect miracles from transfers over this summer.

    • BhoyWolfe says:

Sean ur a plant and so say all of us…. either your knowledge is faint or ur folowing fickle… Hail Hail

      • TrueCelt says:

I think the list above is not actually from reliable sources in the Media world but Sean’s team selection from Fifa 11.

        • Sean says:

Ha ha GTF ya wind up artist. I am merely a man in the middle giving you the information we all desire and my sources are real actually, meanwhile your “sources” are probably ones you put on bacon and burgers 😀

I cannot refrain from the question I asked previous, who would you bring in? Where is this TRUECELT expert list of players?

      • Sean says:

A plant lol okie dokie then you carry on down that road. I will stay here in the real world where a none existent Marty McFly doesnt zoom about in a Dolorean and Micky Mouse isnt prime minister 😀 😀

        • TrueCelt says:

Sean, I replied back to your original comment about what I would do so maybe you should read before responding just like you should have proof read your list before publishing!

Also, where did I state i had sources?? You are the one acting like bigbaws on here with your fantasy contacts. If I see Dougie Howser on that list on part 3 then You defo are a cream bun!

  • BhoyWolfe says:

My pops made and drove big jons cars around the dodgy track in twinklebrook belfast…. i could never forget….. happy days….ps are you the a mickey mouse from govan perchance…lol

  • lenny4myth2 says:

Vela, and Bendtnar are very good players, Bendtnar is way too full of himself to play in the SPL though. I honestly trust Lennons judgement, even if he doesnt sign any big name players im sure the players he does bring in will do well and i can honestly say i will be intrigued and excited by any signings Lennon makes. Im seriously happy to put 100% trust in Lennon and for the 1st time in years i trust the board to back our manager whatever he decided, i think if Lennon really believed a player was worth spending big money on, the board have that faith in him to follow it through. I don’t believe we need to or will do that, im just saying im confident and trust the management and board for the 1st time in a good few years.
    LENNON TO THE CORE

    OMG! They just signed Elvis!

  • lordofthewing says:

I´m sure ALL have been touted by various agents to all clubs who they think would take a punt on them. Clubs will be putting out feelers to get rid of players.

It´s nice to see that some have took the list in the way it´s meant to be. Ridiculed, laughed at and pondered.

Others, I put it down to post season madness.
