The tour of the land down under ended with a 1-0 victory against Melbourne Victory. I listened to the game and we seem to have missed a load of chances in the 2nd period.

The local FM were at pains to state that the opposition are around 100 days from the start of their season, had only been training a few days and had a whole new roster to bed in. Plus an Ex-Hibs player sounded like their best man.

Begs the question: How much can we read into these games and tours?

I’m voting for the money, money, money shot.

What about you?

Great for the Australian Bhoys and Ghirls and great for the players to have time out in the sun, might sound cliché but bonding is really important, new surroundings, nice hotels, competitive games in between, the players are probably have a great time out there, lets the players see they have people all over the world watching them and the importance of the jersey. I can see the obvious downsides but think the positives are just massive.

Not the worst Idea for a tour, I was under the impression they were ahead of us in pre-season training but it appears not. Its good practice however for the upcoming spl however as the games were a bit more feisty than what you usually see for a friendly. Referees were quite leniant with the overdone challenges which sets us up nicely in getting used to overcoming the ‘honest mistakes’ against us that we are going to get. Crowds seem to be loving it more as well than the usual USA tour we have had in the past decade.

after seeing the ausie cops boasting about how many arrests they made i’d change my vote from a worthwhile exercise to a waste of time. i have cousin who lives down under but i don’t think we should go back there. it’ll be their loss not ours.
