Quote Of The Day: The Legend Of Stijn Stijnen (In His Own Mind)

|

It was the kind of quote that makes you stand up and take notice. It sounded like it came from a man who would eat live rabbits even after watching Watership Down, shove old women off a bus for smelling, kill any centre halve or striker that got in his way and you knew that it could only come from a man so confident that his forename is a shortened version of his surname.

Step forward Stijn Stijnen, who seemingly told a Belgian paper:

“I am Stijn Stijnen. I’ve played 30 times for the Belgian national team and in quite a lot European and Champions League games. Why should I prove myself in a friendly game?”

Off course this has now been denied by the club. Which is a shame as if this was true it would have gave me justification to say who the feck is Stijn Stijnen?

Anyway, with Stipe Pletioska being released by Spartak and if his knees hold up to a couple of baseball bat attacks or need for a goalie will be no longer desperate.

You win a prize for quoting Beavis on this blog. That is a first.

well frankly Mr. Stijnen sounds like a certain Holy Goalie who used to modestly be on our books and am like you LOTW am hoping Pletioska knees hold up cause believe he’s the real deal and get him signed up for few seasons of badly needed experience at the back

That’s blasphemy mentioning THG in the same light as this chancer 🙂

      I want Stipe!

One thing is for sure. When a player makes a statement like this, even though the liklihood is that the media have “slightly” exaggerated it a little, he has proven one thing above all else. he is not capable and not confident enough to prove his worth. Good players would have no issue proving themselves, especialy if they know they can!

I’m puzzled by all these trials. Ok, Stipe I sort of understand but the others somehow just smack of lack of planning. I know it’s not but why is it that positions that we knew need filled are going to the lottery of trial?
