Do You Trust The Others?

The news that The Others are meeting next week to discuss ‘The Future’ has been meet with some saber rattling, a rush to Wickes to buy pick axe handles, an urge to rip up bed sheets, buy some petrol and descend on the nearest car park.

It’s reach the level of a hysterical child screaming in the toy store and there has even been a whiff of snobbery. It’s not nice.

There seem’s to be a train of thought that The Others will allow NewORC FC back into the SPL wieoot punishment and not send them to oblivion.

Forgive me but…..if you EVER thought they were going to disappear completely and that any Govan Rowers weren’t going to be allowed straight back into the SPL then you were sniffing glue.

The reason that they will be let straight back in? Look at why the SPL was formed in the first place.

Greed.

It shames me to say that our club were one of the greediest when the rules were ripped up and the distribution of wealth changed.

The move from the SFL has seen R*ngers, Dundee and Motherwell enter administration. Gretna ceased to exist after we treated to a so-called fairy tale. A fairytale would be a completely fan owned club like Stenny or Stirling Albion making it to the SPL.

The club that is seen as the ultimate fan owned club, Barcelona, are saddled with debt that would sink Greece and refloat it again.

Still lessons of the Administration Three and the Deceased One won’t change the greed that drives the decision makers of the gemme.

The Others will be slobbering over potential riches and success. They can include NewORC FC in any Tv deal but can ensure that they are so severely handicapped that they can’t be a threat to them for at least 5 seasons. They can claim sporting integrity while in fact their intentions are as every bit as devious as R*ngers (in administration).

How do we come into this? We get less money from a Tv deal that is pitiful anyway. No great loss. Split of gate revenue? Unsure if that is a goer and on the agenda.

If R*ngers (in administration) go to become Govan Rowers FC then the utopia is them losing the history, them being financially crippled for years to come, them being punished for years of financial doping (a decent punishment not just lip service) and us getting to stuff them 4 times a season for the foreseeable.

We need to accept that. But then I’m all for clubs paying their way, sporting integrity and the redistribution of wealth.

If that doesn’t happen then we won’t need a boycott. Thousands will walk away anyway.

“Split of gate revenue” – where did you get that idea from ?

Celtic built and paid for the stadium to hold the 60,000 fans and they do not have to hand over a slice of their season ticket revenue to others. Celtic invested in the stadium no one else.

If they manage some way of forcing clubs to hand over revenue then Celtic could sell the season tickets to fans for £1 each – and only to fans who members of a specific sub club that they pay £500 a year to be a member of, more depending on the seats (the seats being sold to members who are Gold, Silver or Bronze and the different year sub for each member seating area). That way they don’t get their greedy hands on the money that fans want invested into our club.

The idea is just another way of trying to get the ORCs back in contention and hold back Celtic.

The auld SFL split the gate money. I read it mentioned on some of the posts I read today. Some think that this is part of The Others plan.

      I said in the post I don’t.

I agree with most of your points.but i think a club the size of CELTIC should use it`s full potential.RE media distribution internet and transfer dealings with other spl stake holders to our advantage.shows exactly what were thought of when you remember the silence when we where hour`s away from going bust.we should have boycotted these morons when there sfa officials went on strike and tried to blacken our clubs good name.HH

I feel out of love wie the SPL years ago. I love ma club too much to stop completely but I haven’t been to certain clubs in years because of their treatment of us. Celtic, YES THEM, also have practices, which horrify me (see the in kahoots with the Kinning Parkers re pricing of Glesga Derby tickets).

The SPL has been corrupt for years. It won’t change no matter boycotts and such until greed is factored oot. Clubs can continue to fleece fans, treat them like second class citizens and overspend in the name of the gemme wieoot fear of being held accountable.

Fans, like me don’t boycott we just fade away.

very well put and presented.LOTW.i`d liked inform fellow hoops and gaels to check out KONY 2012 on youtube.so we all have the chance to make a differance in the world.cause were snookered in the spl.

Pretty much, that’ll do it for me. If we all have to share a box of smarties for the TV deal, I’m fine with that, as long as we get the blue ones. I think we should tell them to GTF if they try and negotiate a percentage of the gate receipts, but I don’t think it’ll come to that either.

I’ve got an idea. Why don’t away teams keep the away team fans money and home team get the rest. As it is I can see the gang of 10 going for 50/50 or 80/20

    • lordofthewing says:

Aye, Dunfermline will really benefit from the income of 52 fans that attended CP a few weeks back.

  • John says:

The share of the gate is a non-starter. Football has changed radically since the 70s. There is no pay at the gate any more.
The other clubs need to be very careful here. As mentioned above the importance of how this is dealt with is huge. Many fans will just drift away if Rangers are not punished severely.
There is no point in watching something which is essentially rigged.
Also, a very dangerous precedent will have been set. Lie, cheat and steal for years. Run up huge debts, fold, walk away and set up shop as something else debt-free, but essentially still trade as the old entity. Do you really think that UEFA want that as a precedent? Don’t think so.
The Chairmen of the other clubs would be crazy not to do exactly the same thing. Even Advocaat was justifying it yesterday, saying we had loads of success and it was great at the time, who cares that we spent a wee bit too much.
If I owned one of the smaller clubs I would be putting my personal wealth in the dog’s name and going for the spend, spend, spend option. What’s the worst that can happen?

    • lordofthewing says:

      That’s the biscuit!

The precedent set if they get away wie it. That’s why I’m not indulging in the rabble rousing! The clubs will act in their best interests and their best interests are NewORC FC in the SPL but wie their legs chopped off.

I posted this on the RTC website last night:

There has been a lot of talk on here, and other sites, regarding the action that can be taken by ordinary fans to show their displeasure at the prospect of a newco being allowed back into the SPL.

I have already said that if it does happen I will never set foot in another Scottish ground.
My brother, who is also a season ticket holder, feels the same.

This has got me thinking. What would the response of clubs be if, when it comes to the renewal of season tickets, fans from all the other clubs simply returned the renewal letter with one of their own attached which simply states that they are not prepared to renew until their individual club makes a firm commitment to the rejection of a newco into the SPL.

Season ticket renewal time is approaching. Is this a possibility as opposed to demonstrations and boycots. This is time for all fans to stand together in an attempt to save not only their individual clubs but also the league and any semblence of sporting integrity.

    • lordofthewing says:

I admire your stance but the reasoning you gie (NewORC FC in the SPL) is not something that I ever contemplated as being a gemme changer in what I do on a Saturday.

The gemme changer for me is the punishment they get from the other SPL teams and how the SFA/SPL handle the investigation into their affairs and dealings that they have used to stop their Espanyolfication.

What I said in the post is the minimum I will expect. If that doesn’t happen then like you I will not set foot inside another SPL ground again (I will go and watch fitba’…..Stirling being my local club and me having paid £40 (same as Andy Murray and Gary Caldwell WTF!) a few years back to save them).

But in both scenarios it’s clear thousands are going to walk away.

For the first time in ma life I’m trusting that oor board will have this covered. Was the CQN blog a well placed warning shot to others to what the support are thinking and all done with the PLC blessing?

Off course this ma not happen. The Baron Knights are on the case and The Huns are going to be saved…..

      • justshatered says:

        The clock is ticking.
While indeed Rangers may be saved in the short term the gorrila in the corner is HMRC.
I believe come the 1st of April they will recieve new powers to chase newco companies.
If a newco starts up in the same premises doing the same business using the same components then HMRC will see it as a continuation of the tax scam and come after the said newco.
HMRC do not do deals over a number of years. You are lucky if you get weeks.

        • lordofthewing says:

Have you got details of these powers?

I see everything is rosy again this morning, D&P are actually a superhuman team who can change reality and distort the truth wie nothing more than a few words to sympathetic journo’s.

It’s like Loise Lane banging Superman.

      • justshatered says:

I meant to say where would you draw the line?
To ensure that Rangers continue should we actually give then a tenth of our income?
At the rate they spend money that should take them a couple of weeks to go through.
The problem is that Rangers have, and continue to operate, an unsustainable business model. For them to continue to be successfull the money has to come from somewhere as what they generate doesn’t cover it.
So what do we do to pander to the supremisist, egotistical fanbase that demands success?

        • lordofthewing says:

The line is ensuring that fair play is followed. That clubs are punished for cheating. R*ngers (if proven) will be the biggest gemme ever in the world gemme. THAT will gie them something else to crow aboot. THAT should see them demote. YES, HELL YEAH it should but it won’t. The reason?

The administrators of oor gemme are amateurs. The rules don’t cover something of that magnitude and the rules are used to be ridden roughsod over. Do you think The Huns will have the wherewithal to get a license for next season by the 31.03.12? Naw, they are due further punishment fae SPL/SFA at that date oor EUFA will get involved (WHY have the press not being on this case, I mean it’s in the rules and a goes hand and hand wie the lack of EUFA license).

That’s why I believe greed is the only way that they will get the punishment they deserve.

For me the distribution of wealth doesn’t include gate sharing. League sponsorship and Tv Deals should be split 12 ways. Gate money and any other deals are for the individual clubs.

  • mick f says:

Your right they will defo be allowed to play in the SPL but rather than being angered about it i’m just trying to focus on the beatings we will be handing out to the tax dodgers.
Sick of travelling to Inverness & Aberdeen for afternoon kick offs so WE should be demanding that changes (I know we are only bit parts for sky/espn to fill any gaps in their scheduling so there is no real chance of that happening).
