Ref Who Has Allowed Several Thuggish Assaults On Celtic Players Given Our Game.

The ref for the weekend has been named; it’s none other than Don Robertson who last season caused controversy when two lamentable calls of his were over-turned by the SFA and retrospective action taken on behalf of our club.

The two incidents involved particularly brutal challenges which he had essentially failed to punish in the correct manner.

The SFA stepped in and made both of them retrospective reds.

He finally sent a player off against us in March; Ross County’s Kayne Ramsey, who was allowed a vicious challenge before the one for which he got the deserved red.

These are only the headline moments from his games.

He let other clubs kick us up and down the park in the course of the season … games against Aberdeen and Hearts come readily to mind, where our footballers were battered from pillar to post.

We know we’re going to be this kind of treatment from some of our own opponents.

We also know that there are refs who will allow that to happen, and Roberson is one of the worst is this regard. We can expect some rough-housing in this weekend’s fixture.

This is one of the areas where a lot of us think Ange could be more proactive.

Our manager doesn’t want excuses and he won’t make them either before or after matches, but we all know that guys like Robertson need calling out and put under the appropriate pressure before these fixtures, lest real damage get done.

We do not want further injuries.

Our past with this guy has taught us to be wary. We should be putting him on notice that we remember these previous incidents and we’ll be watching and ready to complain should this match see a repeat performance.

It would be good to see Ange do this in his press conference before the weekend.

There will be fan media reps there.

Perhaps they should nudge him in that direction.

Was in my sister’s class at school. Pretty sure he’s a Celtic fan. Strange world.

  • Seppington says:

Ange might not do it but let’s see CalMac come out and stand up for his players if “See no evil” Robertson performs as expected….

Spot on Our fan media should be mentioning this

Or just be more lethal in front of goal ? Glad to see ange call that out on Sunday, some the misses last season were horrendous, got a feeling we’re gonna see 4/5 goals on Saturday

  • Johnny Green says:

Yes, by all means let him know he is under scrutiny….but does he have a conscience?

Another ODIOUS Little Prik!! Whit is it wae aw these MIDGET Fukin Refs wae the chip on the shooders!! Get 3-0 up by HT then throw on McCarthy, Ajeti & Julien BAWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

This is another pointless rant about referees. Last week you didn’t want Walsh. This week it’s Robertson. Tell us who you would want to ref our game. He may not be very good but I don’t believe he is corrupt unlike Brother Beaton or the now departed Boaby. It’s the whole system that requires a complete overhaul and our club should be at the forefront.

Couldnae tell you who his preferences are, if he has any, but his failure to clamp down on some of the treatment our players received last season, when he was ref in our games was disgraceful. Anythin similar this Sat, our manager and club should demand somethins done. Our captain should be right on his case durin the game as well, if and when it happens.

In answer to one of the comments above, I think it is obvious that Mooy isn’t match fit yet, Ange only brought him on to ease himself into his system. There is no way he can start in Dingwall. Neither can Kyogo ever be partnered with Giakoumakis unless we play a 4 2 2 and that’s not on unless we are behind in a game and are chasing a result. If Ange did play them together it would mean Kyogo playing wide and, as we saw before, he is wasted out there.

  • Roonsa says:

I think, particularly, at the start of last season, some of the challenges on our players going unpunished were shockingly bad. I try to not get involved with the bent refs barb because I don’t watch the huns (EVER – except when we play them) so I can’t be dispassionate about perceived bad / biased decisions for / against them. What I do I know is that Celtic do get the odd decision and we get some absolute shockers against us.

As for Ange or Calmac making it known that we are watching the ref, yes, why not? It’s an absolute no brainer.

  • Patrick O'Reilly says:

Bring in players who’ll defend themselves. If they’re being battered from pillar to post then it is’nt only the match officials who are allowing it. The players are, too. And this problem will cost Celtic in terms of points and injuries if it is’nt dealt with.

    • Roonsa says:

That has to be right up there as one of the most stupid comments of the year. And that’s saying a lot.

So Tom Rogic or David Turnbull are shitebags because they didn’t get up and “stick the head on the cunt” after being clattered by Motherwell players in brutal challenges?

Away n talk pish somewhere else.
