  1. Van Bronckhorst managed them to their 2nd trophy in their 10 year history and took them to the Euro League Final and was sacked within 4 months of the next season. The sense of entitlement of the original club and its successor has been their downfall and will continue to be.
As a guy who grew up and lived for the first 45 years of my life whilst this so called Scottish institution discriminated against 30% of of the population of the West of Scotland on the grounds of the religion they were born into, I’m loving their desperation.
The discriminatory policy this club were allowed to practice by the SFA encouraged other like minded employers to follow their lead.

    1. GvB was the best manager they’ve ever appointed. He massively over performed whilst there. Had any of the peepul the slightest sense of perspective they’d have seen that.

Thankfully for my laughter quota, and for the future sanity of Gio, they are entitled idiots who can’t face reality. Long may it continue.

  2. If they insist on selling the klub to “someone who understands it”, presumably meaning who shares their view of the world, then it can only be sold to a fascist.

Any fascist millionaires ( obviously no need for billions to take over the beggars ) out there?

  3. FANTASTIC PIECE !!!
SPOT ON IN EVERY ASPECT !!!
READING THAT MAKES ME MORE THAN EVER BE PROUD TO BE A CELTIC FAN !!!

  4. Yep all very true James indeed…

    But this article truly is…

    ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT AND BRILLIANT JOURNALISM…

    Thank You for it !

  5. Poetry to my mind and heart.
Illustrates the reason for the silent rage felt by many Celtic fans at their very existence and at the
silence from our Civic Leaders, Local and National, on their continual disgraceful behaviour.
    A blight on our Country.
A disgrace to the Professional Game.
An embarrassment to the sincere practitioners of the Protestant Faith.

In their minds most of them know that they are not Rangers of Pre 2012 but as they are the ‘Peepul’
they genuinely expect the rest of Society to suspend reality so as not to offend their sense of insecurity.
Their failure to accept reality and the willingness of successive Boards to try to fleece them, as in King’s tenure,
or in Park’s case trying to find funding or a business model that works to overturn Celtic’s financial advantage has led them down the road to ‘Espanyolification’ and the nightmares that thought brings.

There is only one end to this process, barring a beneficial takeover, that end being The End for SEVCO/OLD FIRM FC.
I doubt the other Clubs will be sympathetic to the prospect of Rangers Mark III. It would make a complete obscenity of an already farcical situation. SEVCO as a footballing team are only surviving due to the help from the ‘totally random selection’ SFA Scheduling computer, the intervention of the MIBs every week of the year and the latest insult to sporting Integrity that is the supposedly unbiased VAR Team. Without that assistance SEVCO would be lucky to finish in the top 6 every year.
On a level playing field, Aberdeen, Hibs would be our most serious challengers and the rest of the Clubs would have no fears about ‘going for the jugular’. Scottish Football could achieve a renaissance.

As far as the fears for ‘Social Unrest’ if there is no R#####s competing well I think most of Society would baulk at the thought that our Civic Leaders would once again give in to threats. We have a Police Force and a Legal system that will have to decide whose side they are on. The REAL ‘ People’ who pay their Salaries or their friends in the Lodges and fellow Supporters. This whole issue, the whole can of worms, must be settled once and for all. Not managed, No ‘handshake’ arrangements allowed. They are Public Servants and its long past time that they started to Serve the Public at large not one section of it.

  6. Brilliant piece James, very good read,on a change of subject our one time target Ivan Toney, arsenal may be looking to buy him and Brentford are looking for no less than £60 million for him,how things turn out in football.

  7. Insightful beginning to end and a jolly good read.

Excellent piece of blogging that nails it perfectly.

    Congratulations

  8. Yes, chasing out Beale doesn’t really change anything significantly at sevco.

In fact, things could get a lot worse!

Have the bears considered that the Gerrard and GvB years may prove

over time – to be their new club’s “GOLDEN ERA” ?

And it could remain just that for at least another decade…or possibly more?

    [Of course they haven’t! 🙂 ]

  9. Superb journalism, James. A well structured article which lays out the irrefutable facts of the matter. What a welcome antidote to the unctuous and often incoherent ramblings of the pushers of the Survival Myth in the MSM whose arrogance is matched only by their ignorance.

  10. James think you have missed your calling. No doubt there is a lectureship at Stirling for you. As a reader I am getting tired of the historical analogies that pass for analysis of a small medium enterprise based in Govan which consistently underperforms. Why the focus on what this club is doing? I am sure that there lots of interesting articles about Celtic and on Celtic

    1. We DEFIANTLY NEED to focus on what that club (Sevco) are doing Brian…

Brian… That we didn’t fully in the past (EBT) era etc cost us as a club many many millions and lots of silverware as well –

Clubs that died like Rangers (c.2012) and also Sevco need a constant watching…

They would steel the sugar out their granny’s tea and steal the lollipops of their children if it went towards ‘working capital’ and players that they cannot otherwise afford –

Watch, Watch, Watch, Watch every single move that these scoundrels are up to forever more I say !

  11. I seem to recall Alex Salmond and David Cameron standing in front of the news cameras lobbying for some leverage to save the original Rangers from HMRC.

    1. Aye I was surprised that Salmond attempted that.

Nobody listend though 🙂 And I take great pleasure in the irony of it; an “enemy” spoke up when all their friends kept their heads down.

      Amazing. Aaah happy memories 🙂

  12. First class James. Fantastic article. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I have bookmarked it to cheer me up on hard days. Thank you

  13. Excellent article James top notch journalism! I would totally disagrre with those who say we shouldn’t focus any attention on the Ibrox outfit, in fact I would say the exact opposite! They certainly focus plenty on us trying, in vain, to plot our downfall. Their obsession with the abuse case being the most obvious example .They truly believed this would lead to our downfall and to bankruptcy- morons not understanding indemnity insurance and its purpose. They were counting on a Scottish court throwing the book at us
(actually all the signs so far would suggest they may not have been too far off the mark there! Settlement plans are certainly upsetting them!) Also all the emailing of UEFA & our sponsors to try to bring further financial woes upon us – so yes they’re worth watching all right! Their club is more than a sporting venue for them it is the place where they can congregate to spew their bile and hatred. Their pathetic tifos meant to send messages of intimidation to us – amusingly can’t even read them most of the time! So our supremacy in this arena is driving them round the twist – they are calling on the brethren throughout footballing officialdom to aid them and that definitely needs watching! I don’t think UEFA are wholly unaware of the ‘strange anomalies’ going on in Scottish football either. We can congratulate ourselves on a job well done getting them placed on UEFA FSR watch list by refusing to be silent on 2012 and its aftermath and they know damn well fine who put them on that list! So that is what we need to keep doing – staying alert and watchful, making sure we call out cheating when we see it. The days of the SMSM being able to protect them by printing their lies are over. We now have guys like yourself James and other bloggers reporting on all their misbehaviour, shining a light and raising awareness beyond the environs of Celtic Park. It sickens them that they cannot trample all over us nor turn Glasgow into another Belfast but just as the Six Counties are now saying no to the bigotry & hatred espoused by their cousins over the water so too is Glasgow no longer a place where we cannot gather to celebrate our culture and the supremacy of our great football club!
