It Is Ibrox Arrogance To Think The Title Will Come Down To Games Versus Celtic.

The ex-Ibrox hacks have been floating their latest title race theory, and I am particularly pleased with it. They think that the league title race will come down to their games against Celtic. Oh how that would be satisfying. How good that would turn out for us.

Because, of course, we’ve won the last two of them. Which means a draw from the final two would make us champions. And I think we’ll do a damned sight better than manage a draw. When it comes to the crunch this team usually shows up. I don’t think they have it in them to beat us. Having beaten them twice already it’s the one thing I’m still convinced of.

This sophomoric argument is offered at least once a season. It has never been true. Each team in the league plays 38 games, and it is your form over all of those games which determines your fate. They have dropped points in games other than against us, and we have dropped points in games other than against them.

In fact, I’m pretty pissed off that we’re not at least six points clear which we would be if this stupid theory of theirs have any truth to it at all.

They really do love to talk their nonsense, and that’s all this is. The league will be won in dropped points against the other clubs; it almost always is, and this is one of the things that worries Celtic fans as we presently look more likely to do that, based on current form.

But it will be this which gets someone’s noses in front … beyond that point a win over them would be the coup de grace more than it would be a critical moment.

In the end, I hope it does come down to the fixtures between the clubs because that would virtually put the title in our hands. But the idea is arrogance and egotism, it’s Ibrox’s way of dismissing every other club in the league, as if all they have to do is turn up to win these games. That they believe this should not be a surprise; it’s virtually an article of faith with them.

As I said the other day, one of the few things we can rely on about Ibrox is its rampant superiority complex. This is why they believe these things, and this has led to their downfall in past campaigns. Here’s hoping they are repeating the old mistakes.

Certainly, their media allies are.

There is always an air of arrogance that wafts over from their club…it has transcended over from both versions of them. Our fanbase are rightly concerned about our lack of form and consistency, and it is only OUR manager and team that can put that right. Regardless of the criticism of our own team, it will be the team that shows the better consistency and form in the remaining fixtures against EVERYONE else, that wins this title. Their dismissal of every other club, may well be their downfall. Here’s hoping ! ?

Well that’s norm for them init,,, not so many years ago they and their friends in press and media that live in alternative reality to the rest of mankind were pridicting going 4 seasons without losing a single game,,,and doing silverware along the way,, mind blowing how stupid these nutters are

  • Bob (original) says:

Likewise, it is CFC Board arrogance to think we can win the title,

without strengthening the squad, as per the manager’s repeated,

    public requests for ‘quality’ ?

It does look likely that we will drop more points this season.

And there is also a possibility that sevco won’t drop any points,

even though their team is not playing great either…

but they do have the advantage of penalties given to them / none against. 🙁

People seem to forget that Celtic were doing OK before the Winter break. We beat the huns and won easily at St Mirren. We had those two disastrous games against Killie and Hearts but we bounced back and were looking good.

I don’t think it will be impossible to get back to that quickly. I think Sunday’s match could be a springboard to a return to form.

And all the talk has been of Celtic being off it. That lot have been gash as well. I can see them dropping points before we play them in April. And watch their arses collapse when they do.

    ‘Mon the Hoops.

I actually think they will beat every other side, we got a tad fortunate the other night with the penalties, even though both were penalties, sometimes you don’t always get penalties if they are merited, so I think we benefited a bit from that. I just hope we get our act together, because I actually think we will beat rangers twice, it’s the teams who play the 10 players behind the ball that worries me more. Brendan should be trying to come up with a way of combating that anti football that all these other sides play, when they play us. I think he should consider playing both kyogo and Idah against St mirren, to see how that goes. HH

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

“ Because I actually thinks we will beat ‘Rangers’ twice” –

      Nah goodguy we certainly won’t…

Cos they died in (c. 2012) buddy !!!

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

They have been arrogant about this for years and thankfully been bitch slapped left, right and centre by the other clubs for it thankfully…

Unfortunately it is no longer Beale, Van Bronkhurst, or Gerrard in charge these days at Liebrox –

I don’t know if I have the confidence in Brendan and these shysters that don The Hoops these days to prevail…

And unless we have a very sudden change in tactics, form, confidence and attitude then tragically I’m afraid that we won’t prevail !

  • SSMPM says:

Not quite understanding your logic here. They are 3 pts behind and if they win that then we’re level. If they win by more than 3 clear goals then they go ahead on goal difference.
Therefore a draw against them, at best if no other points are dropped to other teams, means we’d only be 1 pt ahead with one more Glasgow derby to play.
If you mean there logic is is a nonsense by saying it’s down to the Glasgow derby games only then I get the sarcasm of your point.
Hopefully none of that will be necessary. HH

  • SSMPM says:

Soz meant to say that they have a game in hand and if they win it then we’re level on points. C’mon a Hoops

  • bertie basset says:

i’m afraid James if celtic continue to play as is we will surely drop more points , and i can see why the sevcos are optimistic with dice loaded in their favor , when clementine needed digging out of a hole when he first arrived on the scene the tried and trusted M I B and var was there to make sure of his victories , i can’t see them dropping points against any other team and if it comes down to a slight margin with us , an honest mistake or two will sort it all out , don’t be kidded by the 2 penalties the other night , they always even out in sevcos favor , and i don’t need telling you that !!

  • Danny Breen says:

See end day way were playing kilmarnock beat ud next leauge game, players out there not giving there all.

  • Sid says:

Disagree James, don’t think you’re appreciating the deepness of the hole we’re in. This looks like unravelling quickly. This might be a blessing in disguise because if our season collapses quickly we have time for change BEFORE season ticket renewal. This is what our board are dreading because change and sackings would be inevitable.

  • John L says:

I believe the MIB,s will help them even more than they have been.
You only need to revisited the Livingston game to see that, for 90 minutes they offered absolutely nothing, and if you look at the stats for that game, you will see that it was absolutely nothing, and still Connor basketball Goldson got away with an assault in that match.
We just need to find our Mojo and everything will be fine . Here’s hoping.

  • Damian says:

Well that’s a grim diagnosis, given that Rangers have dropped eight points so far to teams other than Celtic, while we’ve dropped 14.
