Should Brendan Rodgers Remain Celtic Boss When This Season Ends?

One of the most important debates being had in the Celtic support right now is the one about the manager. I feel that it’s perfectly valid to be having that debate, so that we all know what the stakes are, and it is particularly important to have it before season tickets go on sale. The club is going to try and flog them as quick as possible. We need answers.

The first and most important answer is about the future of the manager. In short, I think it’s important to know whether or not he will stay if we don’t win the title. A better question is this; does he deserve to get the chance to stay if he wants to?

Rodgers may not want to. He might have had enough of this already. It would grate on anyone to be in this position, where there are sections of this support who don’t want him, a media which is ready to accuse him of anything and blame him for everything and a board which may not want to support his vision even as their own crashes to ruins.

That’s for winning the title. I suspect that if we do that he’ll be here in the next campaign and doing his level best to lead the rebuild. The board may not want him to though, and that’s something we should all bear in mind. They may decide to get rid of him whether he wins the title or not. We should keep in mind that to some of them he has failed to keep to his own brief; he has not made best use of the squad at his disposal.

But if he loses the title a lot of us are going to feel that the matter should be taken out of his hands. The seven point lead we’ve blown should, and would, have been enough to give a manager breathing space. We’ve made a real mess of things instead. On top of that, we’ve somehow squandered that lead having beaten them twice, which makes it worse.

The section of the support that never wanted him back certainly won’t want to see him stay. Even people like me, who broadly welcomed his return, were pretty clear that our support for him was predicated on his record and his ability to get over the line. If that’s no longer to be taken for granted, how long will our support last?

I’m curious to see what the views are, so please post them on the page and vote in the poll. Let us know what you think on the issue, and it’s the biggest one we’re facing as a club.

Should Rodgers be manager at Celtic when the season ends?

He should only stay if Celtic wins the league

He should only stay if Celtic wins the league

He should stay regardless of winning the title

He should stay regardless of winning the title

He should go regardless of the outcome

He should go regardless of the outcome

I believe he should the man was never backed or supported for the job he was employed to do.The activities of the board from last summer are criminal.Total neglect of their duties and as a result a very good chance that we will blow the biggest CL pot ever.Their will be knock on effects for seasons to come as a result.A good chance that we will play 2 fiddle for a number of seasons. Also we lost Starfelt Juranovic Moy Jota n to all intents n purposes Abada, throw in the injuries to CCV n Hatate who both missed large parts of the season.Had Ange been still here n treated the same he also would have struggled.Should BR leave or b sacked I dread to think of the downgrade that will replace him.I believe we will never grow as a club once this board is in place, no plans for the immediate, short term or long term, totally depressing

    Regardless of title outcome,

it might be best for BR himself to leave at season end?

Especially if PL is still the ‘Non-Exec’, Exec Chairman?

    BR will always have options:

if a European club came in for him at season end,

or even an ambitious Championship club,

    then why not?

The worst case scenario for the support next season could be,

    a continuation of complaints about PL’s interference – and BR’s tactics too…?

Hard to say, but I do think that he has been asked to work with the weakest overall Celtic squad this century.

What should happen and what will happen will likely be world’s apart.
Here’s what should happen WHEN we lose the league, I’m on record as saying Sevco are certainties and I’d love you to be reminding me how wrong I was, however that’s unfortunately not happening.
Desmond should come out of hiding and apologise to the fans who repeatedly told them they were sleeping at the wheel, yet they knew better, just like when they made the decision to stick with Lennon which put the final nail in the coffin of 10.
Desmond should admit that gross negligence from the directors has declined the football club at lightening speed. Nicholson should be sacked for hiring Mark Lawwell and Peter Lawwell and showing zero leadership qualities. Peter Lawwell should be given a lifetime free subscription to Celtic TV and never darken Celtic’s doors again and make himself available for a sculpt for a statue at Ibrox and bright new ambitious staff recruited. Desmond should declare that the Strategy is dead and Celtic will be run to its full potential. A full review and new proposals will be drawn up to replace the corrupt network of refeering. In 2024 Celtic will not accept corruption stopping the club reaching its goals.
Brendan should be asked if he wants to lead the new setup with guaranteed funds.

Anything less and it’s just moving the furniture around and we’ll continue to be operating at half our potential.

I’m the same as James Forrest, when Ange Postecoglou left for Spurs I was happy to take Rogers back. However nothing is making any sense to me. Rogers clearly stated he was going to bring in quality during the winter break, what happened!?!? The board clearly didn’t back him yet it was the major shareholder Desmond Dermot who personally went out and took him back. So who’s to blame here, Rogers inherited Postecoglou’s team and they’ve looked a shadow of themselves since he took over. But in fairness he never had the services of Jota, Abada and Hatate, three names on Postecoglou’s team sheet every week.If we lose the league to Old Firm FC, are they going to use him as a scapegoat. Remember this is a guy who won everything for 3 1/2 years and they called us the invinceables. Dermot as the main share holder needs to stop playing golf and head back to Glasgow. Round up all the director’s, manager included and sort out this mess.
