No, The SFA Is Not Doing Celtic A Favour By Delaying The Brendan Rodgers Hearing.

Today I read one of the more ridiculous reports on the current standoff between us and the SFA. The report itself wasn’t the problem.

Written on a fan site, it was in fact a transcript of Richard Gordon, of the BBC, mounting a defence of the governing body, doubtless based on some briefing, quite possibly from someone like Broadfoot, seeking to justify the Rodgers hearing delay.

Gordon’s claim, or rather the one that has been fed to him, is that there is no fast-track system available for these cases, and that the length of time between the event and the hearing is actually designed to – are you waiting for this? – help the clubs in question because it allows them the proper time to prepare the details of their case.

Wow. So, the scheduling is a favour to us? One that just so happens, in this close title race, to disadvantage us in a big, big way. What a crock of shit.

Ask Celtic what they’d prefer here, and I can almost guarantee we’d support an expedited process. And if we are happy with an expedited process then what’s the excuse for not doing this a lot sooner? There is no excuse, we’re being screwed and it’s very obvious that we are.

The timing of this doesn’t help us one bit, and everyone involved knows it.

It must be nice to have a media which dances to your tune, no matter how bad it is. It must be nice to have subservient hacks who eat whatever you give them right off the spoon.

Our club doesn’t have the luxury of that. Our club is surrounded by negativity and this season more than any other that I can remember.

If this system existed to benefit clubs at all – or maybe, and this is just a theory, it only exists to benefit certain clubs – we’d be able to petition for an earlier date and get a fair hearing at the right time.

There is no chance of that. A system which is allegedly designed to give us the benefit of the doubt has been weaponised against us just as VAR itself has.

What makes it worse is that we are expected to swallow these kinds of excuses for it. Celtic should have made a statement about this last night and called it out. I don’t know what goes on in the minds of those who run this club at times, and this is one of them.

Celtic should inform the SFA that the board have instructed Rodgers not to turn up at Hampden as precedent shows he has no case to answer, whilst citing the criticism of Collum after the 30th Dec game and no action taken as evidence of double standards.
The evidence of the cheating on behalf of one club by Beaton over many years is there in TV archives for all to see.
He even cheated Albion Rovers of a famous Scottish Cup victory at Ibrox back in the days of The Rangers being in the lower Leagues, when their big Moroccan C/B bundled the Rovers G/K and ball into the back of the net. C/B,G/K and ball ended up tangled in the net in one of the clearest fouls on a goalkeeper you’ll see. No foul was the decision of the Crown Bar hero. Scottish Football at its best.

  • Tambhoy50 says:

James well said but you know as well as I do this board don’t have the balls to fight the sfa and remember when they went bust lawwel said Scotland needs a strong rangers oh for the bunnet to still be here he would not stood for the sfa bull

  • Bunter says:

The old quote about ‘lions led by donkeys’ sums up the Celtic board. Gutless and lacking in any sense of responsibility for the team, the manager, and the Celtic support.
5th columnists to a man. Get them out of our club starting a the top. Desmond out now.

  • Bob (original) says:

And returning to a recurring theme:

we need proper, professional PR resources at the club.

But, it’s probably regarded as an expensive ‘extravagance’

but a certain, miserable millionaire on out Board…?

We’re always going to be on the backfoot:

even the SFA tw@ts can take the piss out of our club via media stooges,

and be comfortable in the knowledge it will go unchallenged by our Board! 🙁

  • Adrian Gallagher says:

Watch the last minute of the Freiburg v West Ham game. That is all the supporting evidence that Rodgers needs to have this hearing dismissed.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

For Fcuk’s sake – “Aberdeen fan” Richard Gordon sticking up for them…

His ‘team’ royally shafted by them this season as we’ll several times v Sevco –

    And he backs them…

There truly is no hope left !

There again he’s a BBC Scotland employee, so enough said I guess !

  • Mathew Welsh says:

Now it was a clear red card, This type of incident always ends up with a red card, I don’t understand how we cannot just get on with football again, Yes there was an incorrect decision in the game and that was the penalty to celtic, Now we should just move onto the next game, Stop giving people things to talk about and play football again, Brendan Rodgers will be banned as he was silly to comment on referees, How many managers does this happen to? Loads so take the ban and get on with it, The big question is though is why moan about it, I thought we all wanted brendan sacked anyway so what’s the big deal if he misses some matches? Let’s all stop moaning, And let’s all stop talking about Rangers, I’m guessing we all seen the score tonight, Rangers have another decent result in Europe, Where are Celtic in Europe? Not in it that is right, Celtic need to grow a set and start grinding results in Europe, If it wasn’t for the other half of Glasgow then Celtic would not have had automatic qualification for Europe, Be lucky to finish above them this season as the full season has been a disaster, Seen this coming……

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

What the actual fcuk Mr Sevco / SFA / SPFL apologist…

Sorry to make you suicidal but ‘Rangers’ that you mentioned twice in your post died (c.2012) –

You are very right in one sentence though…

“And Let’s all stop talking about ‘Rangers’….. Yeah Absofuckinloutley let’s do – They are Sevco and you well know it so I should not be having to educate you on that fact –

However I do very much agree with your ascertation about Celtic in Europe…

But your so soft in your thinking that you wouldn’t even compete or even win even one game of tiddlywinks even against a three year old !

You are a Sevco / SFA / SPFL organisation’s absolute dream with your ideology !

    • Peter says:

Why don’t you go back to follow follow, as I’m sure that you will feel right at home there ya hun bastard

      • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

He cannot even spell his name correctly Peter…

So aye – He definitely Swallow Swallows, Wallow Wallows And Follow Follows !!!!

  • Jim Duffy says:

How the fuck do sevco do this ,I honestly think they’re coaching staff are so much better than Kennedy and Strachan,I honestly hoped benfica would skelp them ,but once more they do well in europe.im now speechless.

  • Gerry says:

This treatment of us isn’t a new phenomena James it’s always been there. When Jock Stein called out Syme Jr. years ago quoting your father would be proud of you, we all knew what he was referring to.The brotherhood looks after it’s own, always has and always will. The fact that the title race is so close, they don’t even hide it.Time for us to put them back in their box, preferably bury them.Keep up the good work.HH.

  • Jim says:

All they have to say at BRs hearing is why has Collum not refereed a sevco game since they turned their guns on him,

    Then listen to the silence.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Great point Jim – But if it should occur to them as it’s occured to you then they will likely sneak him one before then…

But a very good idea nonetheless !

    • Roonsa says:

He ref’d the game between them and Ayr United in the Scottish Cup. Clement came out in support of him being the ref. It was Bisgrove et al who were moaning about Collum. Not Clement. So you can’t compare the two scenarios.

I know this sounds like I am defending that lot. I am not. I am just mindful of the fact that we are trying to do whatabouterry when, in my view, it does not apply.

  • Roonsa says:

It’s quite simple. Where is the precedent? I don’t know – that’s your job to report on that, James. If there is a pattern established whereby the delay imposed on Celtic is a one-off then we should fight it. If not, we have to accept that Brendan has caused this mess himself. We can’t draw parallell between what happened with sevco after the last matach at CP and what is happening now with Celtic. It’s comparing apples with oranges (pardon the pun).

Celtic, on the PR front, have been absolutely woeful this season and this is just another example. The charge against Brendan is not trumped up – it’s for a reason that, if Clement had said the same thing after a sevco defeat, we’d be screaming for action.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Celtic on the PR front have been woeful for DECADES Roosna far less this season…

By the way – Love the apples with oranges pun !

I don’t have the best of teeth but still it’d need to be apples any day for obvious reasons !

  • Michael McCartney says:

Not only are our board content to be shat upon by the SFA, some Scottish referees and one in particular, but some of our fans seem quite content with that as well. I’m afraid I’ve had enough, VAR has just proved that the perception we had that Celtic suffered from a less than level playing field, when it came to refereeing in the Scottish game is correct.
So a club can slander and complain about a referee with no punishment, but a manager complaining is worthy of a ban. God give me strength.
The Rangers got a decent result in Europe last night and we have to do better than we have this season, both domestically and in Europe. What that has to do with the blatant cheating going on in Scottish football beats me.
