When The Village Idiot Is Whining, You Know Celtic Are Doing Something Right.

Want further proof that Celtic got a result the other day in the Rodgers case? Look at the reactions of some of the commentariat.

This morning, I responded, on Twitter, to the latest pathetic piece of moaning from Ewan Murray of The Guardian, who had a rant about the punishment where he seemed to be claiming that managers can now have a free shot at refs.

Except, didn’t Rodgers end up with a one match ban and one match suspended for that? Some free shot. Murray, a Hearts fan, has a long-time issue with Celtic and with Rodgers especially, although I don’t think anyone could tell us why.

His bitterness is irritating, because he works at a title alongside some real heavyweights and you’d think, therefore, that he is smarter than the average hack.

But then, every village needs an idiot.

Which brings us to the head boy amongst them, the top man in a town made up of all the people too stupid to be village idiots somewhere else. And in that, town, obviously, the cream sits at the bottom of the bottle of milk. There are many village idiots, but there is only one Village Idiot. And this morning, well friends, he is boiling with anger.

And, as usual, his outrage is so visceral that it’s hilarious.

“Whatever you think of the decisions made by Don Robertson, after Beaton recommended VAR reviews, the rules directly state that you can’t call officials ‘incompetent’,” he said.

Although he has and other hacks have, but only when decisions have gone Celtic’s way or against the one from the club from Ibrox. They are pretty selective in their outrage.

“Rodgers did that but will be free to be on the touchline at Ibrox next Sunday after sitting in the stand at Livingston tomorrow. The ban is weak. There is no other way to describe it. It also sets a precedent for the next time a manager decides to call an SFA official ‘incompetent’ after a game.”

Actually, there are plenty of other ways to describe the ban.

How about “pathetic”? How about “shocking”? The regulation under which Rodgers was banned is a joke. The SFA bottled it, because Celtic brought in the big guns … but this joker’s meltdown is funny. And it got even better in the very next bit.

“The referees can’t be happy and I am not having this theory that it was a common-sense decision, as it means Rodgers doesn’t have to sit in the stand at Ibrox.”

That’s a kid chucking the toys out of the pram if ever I’ve seen it.

And what makes it particularly brilliant is that this is a rant in favour of the integrity and competence of referees!

You know, aside from the assertion that it can’t be “common sense” if Rodgers is in the dugout at Ibrox, which so reeks of bitter tears that I just want to use them as a mixer for my Jack Daniels.

His meltdown after the Alastair Johnston incident at Ibrox was marvellous.

His claim that the SFA “obviously have something to hide” was lunatic stuff. His demand that his favourite club get to “hear the audio” was a not terribly well disguised suggestion that either Walsh – who was the ref that day – or Collum, who was in the VAR room, were up to no good.

So to see that he’s defending the integrity and competence of officials is preposterous even for him. He cannot contain his frustrations that Rodgers has been cleared for next weekend, and that’s fine, we know that he’s a bitter little man … but this lack of consistency in his arguments is the real reason we hold him up to such ridicule here.

When he is on a rant like this I know all I need to know.

I know Celtic has done something right.

He is a bigot and cannot be rational in his thought. Indeed, he ignores evidence that does not fit in with his bias. God knows why the Guardian employs him, but it is the reason why I and many others will not buy the Guardian or support them on line. They have plenty of good reporters, so why employ people like him?

I was expecting that at least one Celtic blog, probably this one to be honest, would pick up on Kenny Miller’s incredible comments last night on CSSB. After a Rangers fan said that there was “something about” the SFA decision regarding the Brendan Rodgers punishment Gordon Duncan and Hugh Keevins asked how th caller could say that and did he have any proof. At this point Miller jumped in an backed the caller up. It was clear that Duncan and Keevins were taken aback by this and they were asking him if there was any way he could stand it up. It all became a bit heated and Miller sounded quite wound up. They went to what was clearly a welcome break. When the programme resumed the first caller was another Sevco fan who was calling to back up Miller. He went further than the first caller and Miller and Duncan was giving him a hard time about the unfounded claims he was making. Miller had been quiet throughout this, however, to my surprise, he waded in and doubled down on his comments. ? This all came close to the end of the programme. I’m sure that there would have been a discussion about it afterwards as Miller really did step over a line and was not professional in either what he said or the way he behaved

Definitely only worth listening to when Sevco lose or drop points – otherwise it’s a DEFINATE – NO, NO !

I think other managers should take a leaf out of BR’s comment and if the refs are incompetent in their games they should say so and risk the 1 or 2 game ban, maybe then the sfa will have to admit how bad our refereeing standards are

For refereeing performances over the last few years, ACSOM on YouTube is a must watch.
JP Dykes and a statistician friend lay out the statistics in great and astonishing detail of what we all know or suspected. What did lead our Head of Refereeing to resign…?

    • SFATHENADIROFCHIFTINESS says:

      Agree 100%.
Watched it myself and to see it laid out so forensically was a joy.
So next time anyone says your’re paranoid, repeat the phrase
“ we weren’t feckin paranoid enough” and point out that their reasons for not considering the evidence
or of dismissing it’s conclusions just serves to highlight their own biases.

I’m visiting the family house at the minute and they have the full Sky package but not the Sports ones but they get the video printer results channel 409 thrown in as well…

So yesterday when watching the results come in nervously as ma favourite English footy team are embroiled in an epic relegation battle who is on but the village idiot Boyd (he usually is when I’m visiting here) and none other than Micky Beale no less…

Now this wasn’t their Scottish Sky Sports arm this was the full English monty, with guys like Merson and in amongst Boyd and Beale and not an ex Celtic player or manager to be seen within a million miles of the building…

They set some narrative do Sevco with their ex players and managers dominating Sky Sports and Sky Sports in England no less either…

Now I don’t pay one thin dime (c. Fergus) towards them but if I was enough of an imbecile to do so I’d be very bloody annoyed indeed at the 100/0 percentage in favour of Sevco over Celtic in that organisation who look to just be a Pro Sevco version of BBC Scotland I’m afraid !
