Maurice Ross has become the latest ex-Ibrox player to provide a “blueprint” for The Mooch in a quest to beat us. Before we get to this genius’s plan – believe me, I could cover it on the back of a postage stamp – let’s remind ourselves of who this guy is.
Ross isn’t just an ex-Ibrox player, but a disgraced one.
He was at Notts County back in March 2021, before he took up his disastrous, post at Cowdenbeath. He left Notts County after making a racist comment to his own player.
Donald Findlay hired him to manage his club, and they have paid a momentous, and deserved, price for doing so.
His tenure there was nothing short of catastrophic.
They fell out of the professional league setup for the first time in this history.
He was sacked with them 15th in the 19 team Lowland League.
This is the tactical genius who thinks he can come up with a plan for Ange Postecoglou’s team. How incredible that anyone should pretend this is more than a bad joke.
And what is this plan?
“Stop Callum McGregor.” Brilliant.
You can see why he’s been so successful, can’t you? You can see why he’s considered one of the great tactical thinkers of his generation, right? It’s so sophomoric that it should embarrass anyone pushing it.
Yet the media is lining up to give this guy and this theory coverage!
Let me repeat; he failed so spectacularly at Cowdenbeath that he is rightly considered the worst manager in the entire history of the club. Even if he was not a disgraced bigot who couldn’t control himself around his own players, giving him any credibility as a tactician is ludicrous.
There are times when you look at our media and wonder how low they can go.
You wait and see; it’s a matter of time before Ross is appearing on the BBC.
That will transfer his shame and his disgrace to them, as it does with every outlet which pretends he actually has something intelligent to say or insightful to offer.
Being an ex-Ibrox player acts in this country like a decontamination shower; it does not matter what you have done or what it is that you do. Offer some mealy mouthed half apology and all your sins are forgiven.
It is disgraceful.
