The Celtic Women Showed Some Steel Last Night To Bounce Back From Euro Heartache.

When the Celtic women lost that European tie on penalties, I thought that they would have to dig deep and find themselves again.

What better way to do that than in the manner they did it last night? I thought that showed every single one of their fighting qualities, and reveals this as a very significant team. I cannot see past us for domestic glory.

Two goals down after seven minutes, I could barely believe what I was watching. But we struck back quickly, thanks to Caitlin Hayes – way to recover from her disappointment – and from that moment on I had not the least doubt that we would win the game.

Paulo Partido, our loanee from Real Madrid, got the equaliser before half time and we were pretty unlucky not to go into the break in the lead.

The winner came in the 50th minute, and although the women played well afterwards it was about controlling the game rather than adding to their lead, which is probably the smart thing considering that European game was just three days ago.

Fran Alonso has a great sense of game management. He could have demanded that his team press forward and get more goals, but you know what? The job was done. To come back from two goals down and win the game, after a tough European away match and one that had ended in such a crushing blow, is absolutely outstanding.

It shows the strength of character this team has. We already saw that in the aftermath of last season’s disappointments, when they came out and blew their early opponents away this season, but this result feels more significant than any of them.

It is the sort of result, comeback and performance which you see from title winners. The sense that we are watching a great team here continues to grow. The women are going to bring another championship to Celtic Park. I don’t have the slightest doubt.

I was there last night and I agree 110%. After 7 mins I felt it was going to be one of those European hangover games. But, 1 minute later I knew we were going to win. It showed the strength and depth of this squad but it showed the camaraderie and togetherness of the entire team. I have no doubt that we’ll be crowned champion’s this season. Well done Ghirls onward & upward.

A little off topic, but I was disappointed to see that Glasgow City have signed Abbie Larkin, the 18 year old rising star of the Ireland womens team, from Shamrock Rovers.

Surely that’s the type of signing that Celtic should be making. You’d imagine that the player herself would choose Celtic given the choice.

They are a fantastic well driiled team by Fran, all the way to the title I have little doubt.

As for wee ranger it shows that apples do indeed have a habit of landing no too far away in others words it’s club bred just like the big wan.
