John Beaton Gets ANOTHER Celtic Game. Are We Really Going To Continue Tolerating This?

The news that John Beaton and Andrew Dallas will be the primary officials – with Beaton in the middle of the pitch and Dallas on VAR – for the match against Dundee at the weekend is another blatant provocation to Celtic.

How can one official get our games over and over and over and over again? Is he the only person on the Celtic rotation?

Our club are mugs for continuing to allow this. I don’t want us to stamp our feet and act out like they do at Ibrox but we ought to be asking serious questions about this. If you were to pick the two officials fans least trust these would be the two.

Beaton shouldn’t be near a Celtic match. Andrew Dallas has risen to his current role with the most scandalised second name in the history of Scottish officiating.

The son should not have to pay the price for the sins of the father, but think of the arrogance it shows to try to rise in his footsteps? Think of the kind of association which thinks it’s okay.

Celtic should be raging behind the scenes, and we should be asking how in a game where Willie Collum can barely get a sniff of involvement with the club across the city that we have had the same guy twice in a matter of weeks since complaining about him.

There is nothing surer on Earth than that Beaton will get at least one more high-profile league fixture and I think he’s such a certainty for the cup final that I would put money on it right now.

And I don’t even care if these are the last acts of the crumbling Crawford Allan regime; his own agenda is now crystal clear. To do as much damage to Celtic as he possibly can on the way out the door, which increases my conviction that we played at least some part in forcing him out the door.

There is simply no basis for giving us Beaton over and over again. Our club knows exactly who and what Beaton is. This is a continuing insult to us.

It’s all well and good saying that we have to rise above this, but come on. This is constant. This is so blatant that it would make you sick.

Yes, we are probably good enough to neutralise the officials here and render their contribution irrelevant, but how many other clubs in this league have to overcome not just the opposition but something that reeks the way this does?

I hope we’re not putting up with this. We can’t be.

Every single person in our support knows exactly what is going on here and those inside the club do as well.

What we do about it is another thing entirely, and we certainly can’t do nothing.

  • Robert Downey says:

Celtic should request from the referee association that Beaton does not officiate at our matches.
It worked for the huns with Column.

  • goodghuy says:

I don’t really mind who the referee is.. if we play our game we win, we have won treble after treble with the same refs. We got a few decisions going our way at the weekend there James, and not for the first time against Aberdeen I may add. If Celtic play the way they are capable of it don’t matter if Norman Wisdom is officiating the game. We will win that cup final, I have no doubt about that. It’s in the bag James, no bother sir.

  • Dave Lister says:

It really is reaching scandalous levels now.

We should be kicking up hell in the background over this, especially given the Collum situation.

But where exactly can we take this now? We can’t even tell them to hold a light to the EPL as a paragon of virtue now, given what’s happening with Nottingham Forest right now. They’ve been castigated down South for consistently calling out poor refereeing and now that they have gone public with insinuation of bias they are being hauled over the coals. I’d actually be interested to read your thoughts on this, if it’s not already on the agenda.

In the meantime, we will just have to be good enough to beat these teams despite the officiating.

  • Johnny Green says:

It’s a blatant, in your face, boot in the baws, and we should be kicking up fk about it before the event.

  • Scouse bhoy says:

The celtic board have been negligent time and time again and this is the outcome.

    • James Forrest says:

Oh mate, I am all over that story. I’ll have a piece up about it later.

    • Scottc29 says:

Ah, so he ended up going. The thing with the kids must have been cancelled. I wonder if he broke the new law after all?

    • M.Mc says:

Just had a look at that… so much wrong with what he says… But maybe his biggest faux-pas was claiming (or ad.itting) he was at the celtic ibrox game – probably singing his head off after ensuring everyone that he wasn’t going…. hmmmm…. liar, liar……

  • Peter Campbell says:

As far as Andrew Dallas is concerned, “The son should not have to pay the price for the sins of the father” but the SFA do have to, at the very least, protect him by keeping him away from Celtic games, in light of his father’s tasteless brand of humour.

  • FSTB says:

IMO beaton has been given this week’s game as it leaves scope to give him another one of our games later in the run in

    • James says:

      My thoughts exactly..

      • Truth_Beauty_and_Freedom says:

I wonder if Celtic could take the SFA out of the equation in a similar way that they encouraged/helped UEFA to push through the FFP Financial Fair Play initiative? …
Given the Turkish Referee controversy, it would be great if UEFA gave ALL Clubs the opportunity to veto a local Association’s Referee choice and request that a team of Foreign Referees, including VAR Officials, be used. A fair notice period may be required. The requesting Club could pick up all or part of the tab.
This might not be the best solution, but I think that somehow taking the SFA out of the equation is the ONLY way we will ever get a level-playing field of fair and unbiased officiating.

  • James says:

To answer the question in the title I would say Yes, we will do nothing.
It’s just how we operate unfortunately.

  • Kevan McKeown says:

Said before, the sfa know it, ibrox know it, their support and media know it, these ‘officials’ are pro ibrox and imo, even relyin on them tae give the ibrox team the upper hand in this run in. And it won’t even be the last of our league games he gets this season, never mind the cup final. Now that the cup final teams have been settled, it’s from here in, the league games, we’re gonnae be in for big controversy, tae say the least.

    • Danny Hannah says:

Totally agree,I’ve told my sons to prepare for some wild dodgy decisions, the Silva dive n penalty being an example..They just don’t care and will take the spoils by any means, fair or downright underhanded..

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

They are double trolling Celtic as well James…

    1) – The Beaton and Sonny Devil (Dallas) situation –

    2) – The Collum situation… Once again bowing and scraping to Sevco’s demands –

Ah well – I’m off to sunny England for a long weekend of HONEST Championship football, cheap booze in pubs, all night booze from off licences if desired (which it will be) the second trip this season (the first was in December) and that’ll see both long weekends funded with cash that used to go to Celtic FC via a season ticket but was stopped because of my boards complicity in open season cheating which I see has not ceased over a nine year period that I’ve been away for…

What a truly magnificent decision it was to pack it in financially through the turnstiles at Parkhead for sure…

And this article is just another to absolutely vindictive ma thought process and absolutely correct decision making…

No doubt I’ll be watching their cheating (and they will after last weekend’s normal refereeing decisions have been twisted as not normal) – I’ll be watching their cheating on Sunday from afar in a foreign country and just smouldering with anger about it all…

Ach well – At least the drink will be cheap and the 60’s – 70’s music in the pub will be good anyway !

  • Captain Swing says:

The Syme and Davidson families would like to formally object to your characterisation of the Dallases as the most discredited family name in the history of Scottish officiating…….

  • Roonsa says:

It is true that Celtic should be able to do the job even with Beaton and Dallas on officiating duties.

But you just KNOW that if it’s tight at the end and we’re defending a 1 goal lead. High ball goes into the box which is then cleared. Panic over until …. VAR will ask the ref to take a look at something that he missed and all of a sudden … we’ve dropped 2 points.

That’s how it works with these guys. They make a difference when they can.

It is up to Celtix to make sure we don’t give them the opportunity as we know if they get one they will take it.

    • Kevan McKeown says:

@ Roonsa. Aye that and whatever opportunities they get in helpin the other lot out in their games. Ye know that’s comin.

  • Jimmy R says:

I see UEFA have published the list of officials for this Summer’s Euros. None of the Scottish officials are considered good enough to officiate. Quelle Surprise!

  • Jay says:

Add in the fact we will be playing on a terrible pitch where there is a high possibility of mistiming a challenge I can definitely see JB & AD seeing an opportunity to Red Card or award a penalty if given the opportunity. The Bhoys will have to be sharp on there toes for the full game.

    • John Copeland says:

Who do you think shall be the match referee and VAR officials for the Scottish Cup final ? Answers on the back of a postage stamp ……

  • Jim says:

Beaton cost us 3 points at Tynecastle and 2 at Ibrox so he has already had a huge influence on this title race. To get him again so soon afterwards is just rubbing our noses in it and it’s blatant from the SFA. We should be creating hell over this but of course we won’t but if he costs us more points this season we need to go nuclear and put a stop to it once and for all

  • Eamonn Little says:

That’s what happens when your board is compromised. The five way agreement gang.

  • Damian says:

In the league this season, we’ve had (in order of their first appearance):

McLean three times, Beaton five times, Robertson five times, Anderson twice, MacDermid four times, Collum three times, Walsh four times, Munro three times, Clancy twice, Muir once, and Irvine once.

Yes, Beaton is at the top of the number pile along with Robertson, but hardly by much. ‘Over and over again’ is hardly accurate.

We won three and drew two of the matches he officiated. The Kilmarnock equaliser at home was hardly down to him, neither was our appalling performance that day. There were routine controversies at the recent game at Ibrox though his initial action was to book the Rangers player for diving (once it was confirmed that that card at that moment wasn’t warranted, there was no option within the rules but to award the penalty).

I’m really not sure that there is much chance at all that he would be the reason for any downfall against Dundee.

  • JOE BOYLE says:

young Dallas getting Celtic games because of his father is like the offspring of King Herod being recommended for babysitting.

  • James Forrest says:

You can’t stop yourself can you?

Tell me what the fuck the 5WA has to do with our club not wanting to call out officiating?

    Explain the connection to me.

    • James Forrest says:

I know exactly what Auldheid has written, and I level criticism at them WHEN they deserve it and WHERE they deserve it.

I don’t think they do NEARLY enough about this stuff.

But you tell me what the link between that and 5WA is. You can’t can you?
